Confirmation of Legal Residence – a Solution Corresponding to the Function of a Stamp in the Passport

The certificate issued to a foreigner confirms the submission of an application for a residence permit and the legality of residence in the territory of the Republic of Poland during the ongoing proceedings. Previously, such confirmation was a stamp placed in the foreigner's travel document. The certificate pertains to applications submitted electronically through the Case Management Module. NOTE! You can download the confirmation of application submission (UPO) from your MOS profile immediately after sending the application to the Office. However, the certificate is available only after the formal assessment of the submitted application by the Office. The certificate confirms that the foreigner: has submitted an application for a residence permit; has met the requirements for submitting the application on time; the application meets formal requirements (is not lacking in formalities); is in the process of residence legalization; under certain legal circumstances, may legally stay in Poland until the proceedings are concluded. The document aims to facilitate foreigners in confirming their residence status before public administration bodies, employers, institutions, and other entities that require confirmation of the legality of residence. This way, the foreigner does not need to present additional documents regarding the legalization process each time. Remember! The certificate does not replace the travel document or residence card and is not a document that allows crossing the border under the conditions applicable to the residence card. The change is related to the launch on April 27, 2026, of the Case Management Module (MOS), through which applications for temporary residence permits, permanent residence, and long-term EU resident status will be submitted electronically. Stay in Poland legally. Act wisely – do not be deceived! The aim of the campaign is to reach a wide audience of foreigners interested in legalizing their stay in Poland with information that will enhance their awareness and knowledge of the rules of entry and residence in Poland, including obtaining a residence card.
